I Once Had a Tree...

I used to have two trees in my yard. One in the front yard and one in the back. Now, I either have one tree or three, depending on how you look at it. The storm that ripped through NE Texas and SW Arkansas yesterday wreaked a lot of havoc in my neighborhood. The above photo shows what is left and still standing of my tree in the backyard… Nice, eh?!

Also, the area where I live was hit nowhere near as hard as Texarkana South of the Interstate… I think people will be cleaning up for quite some time… But, as I am trying to do a lot more frequent now, at least I can have firewood for this winter! ;)

Until next time…

When I left for work this morning at 7:00AM it was snowing. It has snowed all day today. Its too bad there is too much moisture in the air and the ground is too warm for the snow to stick. With as much ice and snow we have received today, it sure would have made for some pretty scenery and some great sleeping weather. Oh well, maybe we’ll get some more before the “winter season” is over, which should be any day now. I’m sure it will be 70°F in a week…

“Welcome to North-East Texas. If you don’t like the weather, just wait 30 minutes.”

I took some shots with my camera of the little bit of accumulation I did get around my house. The Honda PassPort that belongs to my brother-in-law, Daniel, got the most. I guess because it was the coldest thing around that hasn’t moved in almost a year. Anyway, the photos are listed below:

Winter Mix Accumulation in Texarkana, February 1stOn January 31st we received a little bit of sleet in the late afternoon. The roads got a bit icy, some frozen precipitation accumulated in the valleys of the roof tops, but other than that, that’s all we got. The next day (yesterday), February 1st, we had a chance of some rain with cold temperatures hovering around 34°. Late yesterday afternoon we started to get snow. It came down hard for many hours and started sticking on everything that wasn’t concrete. The yards got covered quickly, rooftops, cars, etc. The roads were still a bit too warm, I guess, so they stayed wet and a little icy on overpasses.

Winter Precipitation in Texarkana, ARA buddy of mine, Josh, and I were talking earlier today about a chance of snow we might get here in Texarkana, AR/TX. According to the Forecastfox (which I highly recommend for anyone interested in keeping up with the weather) for the Mozilla Firefox (which I highly recommend for anyone who is connected to the Internet and views web pages and content) web browser earlier today, we were to have a chance of snow and the temperature was expected to reach 40° for the high.
