Chris posted an article over at TechSays about printing images to create a huge poster. I am so going to do this this coming weekend (after I get off wrok on Saturday afternoon, of course).
The article mentions using an application called Rasterbator to create the individual images for printing on 8.5×11 sized paper. The software is available for use through a web interface or a Windows executable available for download. The web interface has size limitations but may be an option for those not wanting to download and install any software.
My issue is that I don’t want size restrictions. I want to be able to make as big a poster I possible can and don’t want anything to stand in my way! No software limitations or anything! My other problem is that I, uh, don’t use Windows unless I am forced to in the corporate world so I can’t use the downloadable software… What to do, what to do?
Reading in the comments on the original article, it seems that us Mac OS X users aren’t out of luck that easily. If you have Adobe Photoshop (also known in some circles as Adobe Workshop, Paint) you can export your images from Photoshop in tiles for printing. That is going ot be my plan… I just need to figure out how to do it.
Anyway, stay tuned to the blog as I will definitely post some images on here if I am able to pull this thing off. I hope I can find the time, and toner, to make this happen this weekend because this looks extremely cool!

You must not have noticed the giant picture of the windmill between the shelves high on the wall in our living room. It was made with Rasterbator from a picture I took years ago at the Star of Texas Fair that always gets me all nostalgic for Texas.

I sure didn’t notice that, Bruce. I’ll have to check that out again soon. I looked at your pictures on Flickr today and really enjoyed my time out there. The landscape out there is beautiful.
