I have been so intrigued by all aspects of photography lately. I thoroughly enjoy being creative and photography is my latest outlet for that. Recently, I offered some co-workers an opportunity to have their photos made with their kids, families, significant others, etc. I told them I would do it for free and if the prints were worth anything, they would only have to pay for the prints.

So, the past two weekends I have been doing these photo shoots. The first two shoots I did last weekend and the first one today were pretty quick and a bit sporadic. There really wasn’t any planning on my part for the poses, lighting, etc. I mean, come on, I am new at this and I have a lot to learn. Please also keep in mind that the two shoots I did today were done in 40° weather with either a light drizzle or steady rain. Not the best shooting conditions I can assure you.

So, here are some photos and some links to the shoots I have done over the past two weekends. I will start with the last one I did today, which I feel turned out pretty well. And, here goes…

Here’s a link to the full photo shoot the above images were pulled from.

The first shoot I did today was very cold and wet. We didn’t spend much time shooting but did come up with a few that were noteworthy (in my opinion). I am scheduling another shoot with this family since we didn’t get to shoot very long. Here are some pictures from that shoot:

Last weekend I did two shoots, also. Here are some photos and links from those shoots:

And, the last shoot I did last Saturday:

This couple’s full shoot can be seen here.

So, I’m learning, having a good time, and only wasting an hour or two of other people’s time. Not bad!

In other news, I dropped and watched my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens roll down the concrete embankment of the bridge we were shooting under for the last shoot of today (the first one listed here), through a mud puddle, and under a [parked] car . So far, it appears to still be in working order and no serious damage to the glass. There is a little squiggle in one of the glass elements within the lens but I haven’t seen it produce any artifacts in my photos. Let’s hope it stays that way!

Until next time…

Out of boredom and isolation this evening, I decided to setup the tripod near me in the corner. I snapped a few photos, knowing I am not *WOW* photo material, and actually realized that even more when I got into the digital darkroom…

As I see my self as rays of light hitting a camera sensor, I begin to notice *all* of my imperfections. I started balding at the age of 17. I began going grey around 24. I am damn near 31 years old and have the complexion of a 15 year old… However, this is me…

This is what you see, the camera sees, and even I see if I look deep enough…

And, with all of that mopey stuff being said, check out www.fruitfulstudios.com for some of my latest photos. I have taken a few shots of some co-workers and their families/significant others, some of my nieces, and some downtown pictures in Jefferson, Texas and Hot Springs, Arkansas. Also, check out my Random Randomness Photo Set. There’s some, uh, random things in there that really don’t have a home elsewhere in my Flickr photostream yet.

Well, I just got done processing the photos that I took (that were worth processing , of course) from the 2007 “Celebrate Freedom” CAF airshow out side of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show was great! There were a lot of cool World War II planes on hand but not as many as I have seen attend other CAF shows (I did some searching on Flickr. All in all, it was a good time and a great chance to practice my photography skills.

Since Scott (check out this picture Scott took of me today while messing around… Keep in mind, this is one photograph… and I’m not really a ghost…) and I were the two of the photographers on hand shooting for the CAF, we had to be there all day. We arrived around 7:30AM central and left just before 9:00PM. Needless to say, it was a long day. But, again, it was a good time.

Below are a few shots from the show that I will display and link to from my blog. I also created three sets from the show. The sets are broken down into Planes, Vehicles, and People. You can view all of my photos of the show by following this link to the Collection of all three Photo Sets.

Well, the upgrade to Mac OS X Leopard went smoothly, as Wooley predicted in his comment on my previous post.

The whole upgrade took about an hour and 15 minutes (which included verifying the install DVD) on my MacBook. I now am running the latest and greatest version of Apple’s OS, a certified flavor of UNIX, and am, so far, extremely impressed. The dock is beautiful, Stacks look extremely useful and efficient, there are a lot of desktop customizable features, Spaces (which I am looking forward to setting up soon), and more.

I look forward to getting a bit more intimate better acquainted with Leopard in the upcoming days and months. Anyway, the upgrade went smoothly. If you’re scared, don’t be. Mine was a breeze! I just wish I had upgraded the day this package arrived on my doorstep…

I have had Apple’s latest release of Mac OS X, Leopard, since it launched a couple of weeks ago. I used my in-store credit from my iPhone purchase reimbursement from when I purchased my iPhone 45 days too early for the price drop… or something… Anyway, I got Leopard and tonight I’m gonna install it!

Backups are running as we speak… I’m jonesing as we speak… I’m ready to install this new OS!!!! I’ll let you know how it goes…

Until next time…
