Do Not Drive Into Smoke

Whatever you do, DO NOT DRIVE INTO SMOKE!!!

Do Not Drive Into Smoke

I saw this sign on my way home from the Muskogee Air Show featuring the Blue Angels (see my failed attempt to catch these warbirds flying at 400+ MPH in this Flickr photo set) this weekend. I tried to take some photos of the Blue Angels in Aperture mode, but my skills are not what they should be… I could use the sun behind the planes and the lingering smoke as excuses, but it is true that I have never shot in this mode before… Oh, well… Practice makes perfect… Now, back to the sign.

DO NOT DRIVE INTO SMOKE: I’m not sure what we should do in a situation like this. Do you stop and wait on the smoke to clear?! Should we attempt to drive around the smoke? And, where is all this smoke coming from? Should we be alarmed that there is smoke?! I mean, maybe the issue isn’t just driving through the smoke, but rather that something is on fire causing smoke in the first place…

Man, I am so confused… I think if I see smoke, I’m driving right through it… Wish me luck!

Until next time…

I’m with you. I don’t remember seeing that sign in my Driver’s Ed. book. I’m not sure what proper procedure is. When you find out, let me know!
