Yeah, Jeff I appreciate it. Anyway, I don't put other stuff on mine besides Music and Videos, but I used to. I used to put my Outlook Contacts in mine, just so I always had them with me in the car. Chris a 1TB iPod would be nuts. Right now, that would cost like $2000, but it would be pimp.

I love my iPod. 80 gigs might sound a bit extreme to the people who can't fill a 2GB Shuffle, but lemme tell ya .. that thing can hold a LOT more than music.

Let me power mine up, hold on.

While it's turning on, I'll introduce you to a software application you may or may not know about. It's called SharePod and it's absolutely great. It runs FROM the iPod so you always have it and it lets you transfer songs to and from it. It also does a lot of other cool features, but all I use it for is pulling songs off to "let a friend borrow".

It doesn't work with the 80GB models for transferring songs TO, but I have iTunes for that.

Speaking of which, let me get that application started. Yes, it's bloated but big apps need love, too.

OK, according to iTunes, I'm using:

30.80 GB Audio
02.20 GB Video
186.1 MB Photos
10.12 GB Other
21.08 GB Free Space

Now let's break that down.

Audio: 5670 songs. I don't know how/have access to view the number of playlists. I have about 20 smart playlists and another one for every album. I probably have over 200 playlists. I also have quite a subscription to podcasts which seem to total about 57 items using 3 GB, some of which are video.

Video: 9 small movie files and a lot of podcasts. Small movie files are some Google videos (just copied over Malware Analysis: Rootkits from Google Video the other day), some from poorboys.tv, some from purepwnage.com and I've been thinking of getting a semi-automated way of putting the new Red vs. Blue episodes on there.

Photos: I have quite the collection of wallpapers and such that I like to keep in one place wherever I go. I'm not crazy about the way Apple stores them on the iPod but at least I have them in one place. I need to remove the iTunes sync'ing away from the Photos and just copy them over manually in disk mode.

10 gigs of Other. This is all disk mode stuff. I have a lot of personal data on there (all encrypted with TrueCrypt, of course), the whole archive of Red vs. Blue to watch when I get time, iso's of Linux distros, and just a bunch of random stuff that I like to keep around for that one time I'll need it. It's not like I don't have room for it all on this thing.

20 GB of free space. At my rate that won't last long. When is Apple releasing a 1 TB iPod? I'll probably be first in line.

If there are any better ways to manage a traveling iPod, please let me know.

And, believe it or not, I don't have one single scratch on my baby. I bought a plastic case from Target with it and I left that clear plastic protective sheet on the iPod itself.

iPods are teh win!
