Did You Know?! Fun Facts Anyone Can Enjoy!

Did you know that if your iPod battery is extremely low you can’t even turn it off? Wouldn’t that be the best time to turn it off?

My 30GB Video iPod’s battery indicator was way in the red earlier today (well, yesterday… It is now February 7th and this happened on the 6th) and I tried to turn it off so I could preserve a little battery life for the ride home from work. Wrong! All that happened when I held down the Pause/Play button on the click-wheel was the screen dimmed. Once I released the click-wheel the screen brightened up, so it could use even more battery life, and just kept playing or would pause the music. Hmmm…

Did you know that shred boxes are for putting secure or confidential documents in so that they can be shredded and not thrown out with the trash? You put documents into a shred box so that you don’t throw the documents away in the trash for the general public’s viewing pleasure. Your after hours cleaning crew comes in and empties your trash and you don’t want them having access to those documents right? Why not keep them in a shred box under your desk until the box gets full and you decide to go shred it… Surely, they (cleaning crew, maintenance people, etc.) won’t think to look in there!

The moral of this story is that you should shred everything in your shred box at the end of the day. Don’t leave it sitting under your desk waiting to be shredded… or viewed by the after hours cleaning crew. Or, even better, burn your sensitive documents in the fireplace and save money by not having to use your natural gas starter!

Did you know that cats love little red LEDs dancing across the floor and walls and think that is the greatest thing since catnip?!

I recently borrowed an Infrared Thermometer w/Target Laser (MCL-52224 from a friend of mine to test the temperature inside my desktop PC case. Little did I know that Jaycee would get more enjoyment out of it than I would. Funny beasts those cats…

Did you know that when visiting MySpace.com you are prompted for your username and password on the main page (if you’re not already logged in) but right above the input fields is a statement saying (in my case) “Hi, Cocoa Crusty”. Can you say HTTP cookie? Nice!

They won’t automatically log you in to MySpace.com but they’ll leave and use data from a previous session’s cookie to greet you. Why not destroy the cookie when the browser closes or when you click “Sign Out”?

Did you know that two days ago the Bluetooth® icon in the menu bar of my MacBook was complaining about the battery life in my Mighty Mouse, but now two days later, there doesn’t seem to be a problem with my mouse only having 2 bars left out of 5 on the battery meter? Impressive!

I think some people in life are like this at times. One minute “Issue X” is a major deal and needs to be addressed immediately. The next minute, who cares about “Issue X”? “Issue Y” just reared its ugly head and is now the top priority. Interesting…

Did you know that I am through rambling for the night and going to bed now?! I’m sorry. I just had to post a few thoughts that were going through my mind before I went to bed and this stuff drove me crazy all night. Sometimes I let things get to me more than I should. Its not that I am upset about any of these things, its just that the gears in my mind are always turning and something is always going on up there… Anyway…

Don’t get me wrong. I love Apple, I love my cat, I love MySpace.com, and I love you, but right now, I’m going to bed… Its 12:42AM and I’m out… For real this time… No, really…

Until next time…

Thanks for sharing! You brought up a lot of valid points. I wonder about things like that myself sometimes. I’m glad you wrote about them!
