My Blogroll is Back Online

WordPress logoI just got my blogroll working on this site. I had previously posted an entry about WordPress version 2.1 breaking my blogroll because the theme I am using used a reference to a database table, linkcategories, that no longer existed in version 2.1. When I wrote my original post I mentioned that I would be using the wp_list_bookmarks() function to correct my problem. However, I could not get that function to display my links the way I wanted them to look so they would be consistent within my theme. So, I ended up using the get_links() function and everything worked out as I wanted it to.

I currently have a few links listed in my blogroll and a brief description of each is listed below:

average admins: The average admins site is a community based blog focusing on all aspects of technology and other related topics like security, gaming, Windows and Unix administration, programming, and so on. There are currently 12 contributors on the blog and a number of posts on both the current WordPress site and the original blog that I developed the software for in November of 2005.

Cocoa’s Flickr Page: This is a link to my Flickr page. Flickr is a free image hosting and organizing service that allows you to host, tag, and share images or photos. Their free account has limited upload bandwidth per month but you can also upgrade your account for a small annual fee. I mainly use my page for hosting images and screenshots I use in blog entries on this site and on average admins.

Cocoa’s MySpace Page: This is a link to my personal MySpace.com page. I try and visit it pretty regularly and from time to time actually have friends post comments on my page. Imagine that! Of course, I return the favor by posting comments on their pages as well.

Fruitful Solutions: Fruitful Solutions is my personal web site design, hosting, and development business. My primary client base is small to medium sized business. The main service I provide for my clients is custom programming that allows my clients to offer dynamic content and services to their web site visitors and customers. In the near future I hope to offer small businesses security and *nix administration services with the help of a few friends (you know who you are).

Jason Standridge: Jason is a buddy of mine who is a very creative and artistic type of guy. He is a very talented musician and an excellent tattoo artist (I’m ready for some more ink, Jason). He also does some artwork with different types of media.

Jennifer Janes: This is my sister’s WordPress blog. She hasn’t posted on it in a while but she assures me that she will begin writing again real soon. She has been busy lately with family and what not but she is a really good writer. She has actually had some of her works published in various places.

Old School Players (OSP): The OSP site is a site I started a few years ago for a group of local guys I played Xbox with online. I built the site so that each member could have a unique login and maintain their own gamer profile and list of Xbox games including images of each game’s cover art. We also used to host some regularly visited forums which was built on the open-source forum software, phpBB. Due to the number of security issues with the phpBB software and the frequent need to upgrade, I closed down the forums and pointed the links to the average admins web site.

The OSP site hasn’t been maintained in quite sometime by any of the players, but hopefully, someday, we can all get back together for a reunion tour on the Xbox 360. Who knows, I may use the site for something else in the future, but until then, it is still a cool site with some decent information about each OSP member.

Wooley’s World: This is a site made by a good friend of mine, Joey. This is the same Joey that I have posted about before who plays Xbox with me online under the name WooleyBooger. Wooley’s World has information on the two fish tanks that Joey maintains as well as additional content related to aquariums and fish.

And, that’s that, ladies and gentlemen. As I post more links to my blogroll I will post an entry with a description of each.

Until next time…
